The Bad Seed is definitely has its connections to serial killings. Rhoda, is a typical serial killer in my opinion. She is a perfectionist, very organized, clean and extremely smart. Rhoda, as seen in the movie is a great little actress/ liar and can make you believe anything with her good and cute matters. A serial killer by definition is a person who murders three or more people over a period of more than 30 days, with a "cooling off" period between each murder and as we saw in the movie, Rhoda does just that. It all starts when Claude Daigle, drowns in a lake while at a school picnic, and all evidence is pointing to the "perfect" little girl. To the viewers that is her first murder, but as the story goes we discover along with her mother that this isn't her first murder. A few years back she killed a neighbour just to get a crystal ball. A few days after her murder we witness that she kills the gardener as well by setting a fire on purpose. Her motives for killing are strictly selfish and self sufficient just like serial killers.. Now, what is different from this movie when I compare it to the others is that the murderer is a young female that comes from a good family with no particular child trauma. As for the other movies we watched the murderer always has some kind of troubled past that somehow “justifies” his addictions and killings. In the Bad Seed, the author tries to tell us that her serial killer trait is actually not because of troublesome past or trauma but rather DNA.
